Winter at Valley Forge
Valley Forge was one of the most important parts of the Revolutionary War, yet it wasn’t a battle. Valley Forge was the Colonial training base. The Colonial soldiers training there were under the command of Colonial General George Washington, Ex-Prussian Officer Von Steuben, and French Count Rochambeau. It was at Valley forge that Washington, Von Steuben, and Rochambeau trained the colonial army and made them into a disciplined fighting force. Most of the Colonial equipment and supplies at Valley Forge (guns, artillery, food clothing, etc.) was paid for by a Frenchman named Marquis de Lafayette. Marquis de Lafayette had paid for all of the supplies with his own wealth. Without his contribution to the Colonial war effort, the Colonists might not have won the Revolutionary War. Without French support overall, the colonists had a slim chance of winning.
