The Revolutionary War was debatably the most important war in our country's history. If we hadn't won the Revolutionary War, then there probably wouldn't be an United States of America in existence today. On this website you'll learn the details on the major battles of the Revolutionary War, but here is a quick overview.
The Revolutionary War began with the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The colonists were showing that they were in open rebellion by meeting the British in battle and at Concord the Colonists actually won. Then, at the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Colonists showed the British that they were not only willing to fight for their cause, but that they were also willing to die for it. At the Battle of Saratoga, the Colonists showed that they could win against the British as well. At Valley Forge the Colonial army trained and became a formidable fighting force. And with the Battle of Yorktown, the Colonial army finally won Colonial freedom by defeating British Lord Cornwallis in battle.
